Board of Visitors Approval

In the Spring of 2000, the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia approved the creation of Spinner Technologies^TM, Inc. to meet the demand of faculty who increasingly want to form new companies to commercialize their inventions. Spinner Technologies, Inc. was therefore formed as a new, for-profit subsidiary of the University of Virginia Patent Foundation. The Patent Foundation provided Spinner Technologies with lab renovation funds and a small operating budget to get off the ground.
